Shah Alam

Shah Alam is a city unlike most others — it was carefully planned and built from the ground up in the 1970s, and that thoughtful design still shows today. Wide roads are lined with trees, parks are tucked around every corner, and the whole city feels spacious and organised. It serves as the capital of Selangor, one of Malaysia’s most important states, and it carries that role with a lot of pride.

At the heart of the city stands a truly breathtaking mosque with enormous blue and silver domes that shimmer in the sunlight and can welcome tens of thousands of worshippers at once. It’s one of the most impressive buildings in all of Southeast Asia. Beyond that, Shah Alam has something for everyone — a gorgeous lakeside park perfect for lazy afternoons, a waterpark built for splashing fun, and a glittering entertainment district where thousands of colourful lights transform the night into something almost magical.
