Espoo

Espoo

Espoo is a city like no other — instead of one busy centre, it spreads across five different town hubs, each with its own personality, all woven together into something truly special. It sits right next to Helsinki on Finland’s southern coast, yet it manages to feel both excitingly modern and beautifully close to nature at the same time.

This is a city where world-famous technology companies have built their home, and where brilliant young minds study and dream up new inventions at one of Europe’s most respected universities. But Espoo is not all screens and science. You can wander through ancient forests and spot rare flying squirrels in a national park that is practically on the city’s doorstep, or step inside a medieval stone church that has been standing since the 1400s.

From splashing down enormous waterslides to exploring galleries packed with extraordinary art, Espoo proves that a city does not need a traditional centre to have an absolutely fantastic heart.
